#1: Old Compton Brasserie | Bar Wall Art
Location: 36 - 38 Old Compton St, Soho, London W1D 4TT
What’s on offer: Modern, seasonal, and fresh British favourites.
Art perspective: From street art and pop paintings to authentic works incorporated within the menus, there is plenty of artistic content to soak up in this signature Soho brasserie.
#2: Scarfe’s Bar @ Rosewood London | Artwork For Bars
Location: Rosewood London, 252 High Holborn, London WC1V 7EN
What’s on offer: The current menu, created collaboratively by the entire bar team, is based on musical genres. Try a ‘Satchmo’s’ (Macallan, fermented Persian dates, recovered coffee and lemon and sepia) from the ‘Jazz’ section. It all goes terribly well with the daily live jazz sessions. Grab a leather chair by the roaring fire and settle in for the evening.
Art Perspective: Gerald Scarfe’s own collection of surreal paintings decorate the marble walls, transforming the bar into an art gallery.
#3: Langan’s Brasserie | Art For Restaurants
Location: Stratton Street, Mayfair, London, W1J 8LB
What’s on offer: Formerly co-owned by acting legend Michael Caine, Langan’s offers no-nonsense brasserie-ish comfort food.
Art Perspective: The impressive art collection of the original owners was sold in 2012. The walls are covered now with a selection of tasteful prints and endless photographs of the rich and famous who dined at this restaurant - famous for extravagance and debauchery - in the 70s and 80s.
#4: The Wallace Restaurant at The Wallace Collection | Art News
Location: Hertford House, Manchester Square, London W1U 3BN
What’s on offer: Al fresco dining in a sublime setting protected from both the elements and the bustle of the West End.
Art Perspective: The Wallace Collection's stunning courtyard is the glamorous location for Peyton and Byrne's French-style brasserie. Flooded with natural light and dotted with trees and sculptures. Enjoy this before or after a visit to the internationally outstanding Wallace Collection which contains unsurpassed masterpieces of paintings, sculpture, furniture, arms, and armour and porcelain.
#5: Partridges Cafe, Sloane Square | Art For Restaurants
Location: 2-5 Duke of York Square, London SW3 4LY
What’s on offer: High quality café and green grocer / deli in Chelsea.
Art perspective: Regularly hosts month-long art exhibitions, dedicating its back wall to the works of local and emerging artists, and has exhibited the likes of John Stoddart, Jean Kegel and Hilary McLaren Tipping.
Please do check with each of these venues’ websites about their opening times. 2020 has been a very difficult year for the hospitality industry. As soon as we can let’s get out there and support them - and enjoy art while we’re doing it!
All the best from the team at Artienda xxx
