Description: The first major survey of Carolee Schneemann’s work in the UK, tracing her diverse, transgressive and interdisciplinary expression over six decades. Schneemann was a radical artist who remains a feminist icon and point of reference for numerous contemporary artists to this day. Addressing urgent topics from sexual expression and the objectification of women to human suffering and the violence of war, her work is concerned with the precarious lived experience of humans and animals.

#4: Astronomy Photographer Of The Year | Art Exhibitions London

Location: National Maritime Museum, Romney Rd, London SE10 9NF

Dates: 17th September 2022 until 13th August 2023

Description: Astronomy Photographer of the Year is an annual competition featuring the world’s greatest space photography. Photographers from across the globe compete to take home the prestigious title. Over 100 photographs are on show in a special exhibition at the National Maritime Museum, displayed at their best on brilliant lightbox displays.

#5: Strange Clay: Ceramics In Contemporary Art

 

Location: Hayward Gallery, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Rd, London SE1 8XX

Dates: 26th October 2022 until 8th January 2023

Description: Featuring 23 international artists working across recent decades, the exhibition examines the plasticity and the possibilities of ceramics. The artworks on show encompass fantastical creatures and uncanny representations of the everyday, as well as ranging from small abstract works to large-scale installations that take the medium beyond the kiln. Strange Clay explores the possibilities of thinking through making.
