Ben Wilcox | Contemporary Art

We are delighted to introduce…

…artist Ben Wilcox to Artienda’s audience and clients. Formerly represented by the Van Gogh Art Gallery in Madrid, Ben originally hails from Berkshire. He loves colour and composition and is inspired by most art of the 20th century, in particular abstract expressionism, surrealism, pop art, modernism, hard-edge, colour, street art and music. In April 2021 he was featured in Living Magazine (Bucks & Berks) and has exhibited throughout Europe in Luxembourg, Madrid and London. We spent time catching up with him to learn a bit more about his work and inspirations.

In his own words: “My work is intended to express the abstract nature of life and the modern world, reflecting the beautiful confusion and chaos we often find ourselves in. I like to position myself somewhere between street art and abstract expressionism, capturing unseen beauty through colour combinations.”

Ben continues: I walked away from my art studies when I was 17 to pursue corporate, 9-5 work. During my time in publishing, digital and eventually advertising, I learnt that I was a unique shape and that no matter how hard I tried, I just didn’t fit. I realised where my heart and soul truly belong: in my studio translating my perceptions into abstract compositions””

“My goal is to produce my work as murals, or on very large surfaces. However, more recently I have been approached by several companies about featuring my works on product packaging. I want to try and get my unique style of painting on to as many surfaces as I can. Using spray and acrylic paint I have developed an individual style that can be very versatile utilising muted or bright colours.”.

The original acrylic and spray paint on canvas paintings seen below are available to buy through Artienda. Please click on each image to see the size and pricing information. We will be releasing an additional 6 in the Spring time this year. Ben’s canvases from this range hang beautifully unframed onto most wall surfaces. Artienda’s bespoke framing is also available and we would recommend creating a subtle tray frame or a simple chunky square moulding painted in a complementary neutral to the artwork and your wall colour. Get in touch with us to talk about how to make this artwork really pop within your interior design scheme.
